UPDATE REGARDING BONSOY |
|
Friday, 1 October 2010 In December 2009 Spiral Foods, the distributors of Bonsoy in Australia, initiated an immediate and voluntary recall of Bonsoy milk after being notified of elevated levels of iodine in the product.
After thorough testing and reformulation, the product was re-approved by Australian food and health authorities, and a reformulated version of Bonsoy is now back on the Australian market. Today, a class action was initiated in relation to batches of Bonsoy that Spiral Foods voluntarily recalled in December 2009. Spiral Foods was alerted to the action by the media, but has not yet seen the documents presented to the Court in relation to the action. Spiral Foods Director James Wilson says as neither the company nor its lawyers have sighted the court documents the company is not in a position to comment. However, Spiral Foods can reassure customers and suppliers that products that are currently in the Australian market have been thoroughly tested and approved by Australia’s highest food body. Spiral has been at the forefront of quality natural/gourmet foods for nearly 30 years and we pride ourselves in our products. Spiral Foods is also subject to all Australian health and food safety regulatory testing.
